Nyjah Huston: Skate for Gold slot review: tricks, combos and wilds
Nyjah Huston: Skate for Gold is Play'n GO's July 2020 slot made with the six-time world skateboarding champion, the studio's first sports-branded game: five reels, a combo meter above them, and features in which Nyjah skates across the reels leaving wilds behind. The game's information gives 96.2% RTP and a maximum win of 5,000 times the stake; the volatility is medium. Our earlier review misspelled his name as Nyah.
How Nyjah Huston: Skate for Gold plays
Five reels and three rows in a Californian skatepark; the stake runs from €0.10 to €100 a spin. Nyjah's boards, helmets and trainers are the high symbols; the low symbols spell S, K, A, T and E, and the combo meter at the top shows the trick the game wants next.
What a session costs: 100 spins at €0.10 and 96.2% RTP cost about €0.38 on average. The two features arrive often enough for a medium-volatility game, and neither pays far above a few hundred times the stake in a typical round.
Features
Tricks and the Wildboard respin
In the base game the combo meter shows one of four trick symbols. Land it and Nyjah rides across the reels, leaving two wilds and one expanding wild, then the reels respin with them in place. The expanding wild can turn gold and carry a multiplier of up to 10×.
Skate free spins
Spell S-K-A-T-E with the low symbols across the reels from left to right and you get 12 free spins. During the round the meter shows a three-trick combo; completing it on one spin from left to right triggers the Wildboard respin and adds two spins.
RTP and volatility
The game's information screen gives 96.2%; Play'n GO supplies lower settings for most of its games, so check the paytable where you play.
The volatility is medium. The maximum of 5,000 times the stake needs the golden expanding wild at 10× on a full screen during the free spins; the usual result is a run of small and mid-size wins. How slots pay explains how to read RTP and volatility together.
Who it suits
Nyjah Huston: Skate for Gold suits skateboarding fans and players who want a mid-volatility game with features that trigger often and a small decision to watch (which trick the meter wants). It does not suit anyone after a big multiplier or a deep bonus; the two features are short. It is a Play'n GO game made with 5th Planet Games.
